This summer we’ve spent a lot of time in our backyard due to the lovely weather. This is also the first summer we have had since we finished our little garden remodeling project ready for when we look to purchase something like these rainbow play systems once the children grow a little more and can enjoy swingsets and other playsets! Before all that future madness kicks off though, as of now we all love spending time in the backyard with our family and friends so to make sure that everyone can sit outside we have invested in some fun garden furniture and brand new decking. At first, we were not sure how to go about sorting out our garden as none of us are very skilled on the construction front, but after doing some research online we found some fantastic decking companies like the composite decking online and they took care of everything for us. I am absolutely ecstatic with the results.
Since finishing our project, the kids love being outside in the fresh air, that’s why it’s so important that our garden is kept well-maintained for them to run around care-free! After one of our friends got her backyard maintained by https://www.lawncare.net/service-areas/new-york/, we were inspired to make sure our garden was safe enough for our kids. Contacting your local lawn service is always a good idea before summer, they can make your garden look perfect.
There are other ways to guarantee your garden is a great playground for your little ones too. Common garden pests like wasps, rodents, and ants can all ruin your summer, especially if these pests make their way into your house! Consequently, if you have noticed any pest infestations in your home or garden, then now is the best time to call out a pest control service similar to Pest Control Experts before things spiral out of control. Nobody wants to share their home or garden with a plague of pests after all!
Anyway, because the kids have been in our garden so much lately, I wanted to share some of our kids’ favorite summer toys. I ordered everything from www.buybuybaby.com – they have a huge selection of outdoor play online, the reviews were really helpful, and the convenience of having it all shipped to my front door was fabulous.
Here’s what I ordered for the kids to play with outside this summer:
- Splash Pond Water Table
- Ride-In Car
- Foldable Play Slide
- Beach Ball Sprinkler
- Plastic Adirondack Chairs
- Rash Guards
- Swim Goggles
- Sun Shade Pool Float
- Swim Hat
- Swim Diaper
And here’s a few more things I already had:
- Kiddie Pool (got it at my buybuy BABY store, can’t find it on their site)
- Puddle Jumper Pool Float
If I were to pick just one thing, I’d definitely go with the water table, especially if you have toddler(s). They love this thing and all the fun toys it comes with. It has a drain in the middle so you can get rid of all the water really easily, and I always drain it onto my tomato and cucumber garden after they’re done playing.
The ride-in car is a big hit with my kids too. I love that there’s cupholders, and parents can push the car from the back. It also has the option to have the bottom be open for bigger kids or closed for little ones.
It’s pretty hot out these days, so they only play outside in the early mornings and evenings after it starts to cool down. I also try to have them wear long-sleeved rash guards whenever possible. A little vitamin D is good, but I also don’t want them to get sunburned, you know? Lotion SPF is important, but I love physical barriers even more so because you don’t need to reapply. Who knew that when I’d become a mom I’d start loving rash guards so much?!
Along the same lines, I wanted to share my thoughts on all the outdoor furniture and accessories I ordered a few months ago. This rattan wicker L-shaped sectional and coffee table were an absolute steal and came in a reasonable amount of time, so I’m pretty happy with it. The price does reflect how thin the mattress cushions are – that would be my only complaint. One day I’ll upgrade this set to something with thicker cushions, but for now it’s serving the purpose of providing a lovely spot to sit or lay down in the backyard. I’d give it 4/5 stars.
My new black and white mitre striped outdoor rug and matching outdoor pillows have been great as well. The white lines on the rug do get dirty fast, but pretty much everything comes off with a quick spray of the hose. The key here for us with 2 toddlers is that everything has to be washable. I look at my beautiful Crate & Barrel and west elm and Restoration Hardware catalogs that come in the mail and have big plans for when my kids grow up, hahaha!
