April is almost gone, and this month brought me a lot of favorites to tell you about. I could have included more, but there has to be a cutoff somewhere, right? Today we’re covering the gamut of beauty to fashion.
As always, be sure to follow Bond Girl Glam on Bloglovin’ for future Monthly Favorites like this.
This month I was able to meet the owner of Drunk Elephant and try out the entire Drunk Elephant line, which I loved, but the C-firma day serum and the Framboos Glycolic Night Serum really stuck with me; I’ve been using them daily. The line focuses on ingredients that you need and none that you don’t, so there’s no added fragrance, coloring, preservatives, etc. The products smell and look just like the actual high-quality ingredients that make up the line. It’s a no-nonsense luxury skincare line currently available online at Anthropologie. You can learn more about them here.
Hourglass, how I love thee. If I could, I’d try every single product they offer. Hourglass is a technologically-advanced luxury makeup line probably most known for it’s light-diffusing setting powders. The packaging is oh-so-sleek and Bond Girl-esque, and the products I’ve tried so far are slam-dunk winners. This red liquid lipstick in the color Icon goes on like a lipgloss but dries to a matte finish lipstick. It’s my all-time favorite red, and I’ve been wearing it in a lot of #OOTD posts lately. The Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is lovely as well, which goes on like a lotion and keeps your makeup from going anywhere most of the day. I can’t wait to try more from their line over time.
I haven’t met a Fresh product I didn’t like. This Fresh Citron de Vigne Bath & Shower Gel is no exception; it’s the perfect grown-up citrus scent – so refreshing for spring and summer! This is the most exciting product in my shower right now, haha. It leaves the bathroom (and myself, of course) smelling so fresh after a shower.
Everyone and their mama seems to have already raved about the wonders of the 10-minute GLAMGLOW ‘facial in a jar,’ so I finally bit the bullet and bought the original YouthMud version to try out. As expected, I love it and now have to keep repurchasing. I’ve been using it to keep my skin clear before events and while traveling (I attended 2 blogger conferences in April and used it after each flight), which tends to leave me with painful and embarrassing blemishes from the recycled air. It smells amazing and has little bits of tea leaves in it.
The Anastasia Brow Wiz is my new favorite all-in-one eyebrow product. It’s ultra-thin, so you can easily achieve a natural look. The other end is a spool brush, which is super-handy.
I discovered the It Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer at the beginning of the month, which is an ultra-skinny wand that is meant to coat your lashes at the very root. Mascara wands are usually too big to reach all the way down to the root, so the Tightline Primer gives your lashes their full potential volume and length. It also claims to act as a conditioning serum for lash nourishment and protection, but I haven’t used it long enough to vouch for that just yet.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with lip scrubs, especially since I’m really getting into matte lipsticks. I’m trying a few at the moment and plan to do a comparison post, but I seem to reach for this one by Fresh this month. You need very little of it, it’s very neat and clean (compared to homemade versions I’ve made before), and it’s perfect for travel.
This month I got to meet the owner of Yosi Samra shoes at the RewardStyle Blogger Conference in Dallas, TX. Apparently, he is the creator of the original foldable ballet flat! I went home with a snakeskin-print pair and wore them on the flight back – I think these will now be my designated “airport shoes.” They’re real leather, beautifully-made, and reasonably-priced.
I’ve been dreaming of a pair of mirrored Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses. I went with the gold pair, because I thought it would work well with most outfits (versus the lovely blue or green versions). I ordered online since I couldn’t find the gold ones anywhere in stores, and I was pleasantly surprised that they actually tend to have a chameleon effect and appear either more green, blue, or gold depending on the surroundings. The actual frame is a matte gold, which is a nice touch.
Pens are a fashion accessory, in my opinion. I love to carry my nicest one in my handbag. I just fell in love with this beauty from GiGi New York, which is a brand that makes beautiful leather goods. Isn’t she just gorgeous?!
Asymmetrical hemlines are on-trend at the moment, and this take on a pencil skirt by Lucy Paris is my current favorite asymmetrical piece. The zip goes all the way up (or down), which is kinda sexy, and the faux leather pocket trim is a chic detail. I’ll have to post an #OOTD with this skirt. It’s also on sale right now at Bloomies!
Tassel necklaces are my weakness; I have a small collection of them. My latest tassel pendant is by Kendra Scott, a Texas-based jewelry company that can customize the stones in any of their pieces. They have a location by me in Fashion Island. I’ve been wearing it quite a bit since I got it, because it’s so easy to pair with almost anything. I have it with the white stone, but I also love the black.
One word: SoundCloud! Mr. Bond introduced me to it years ago, but I started using it actively this past month. I think it’s better than Pandora and Spotify, because it’s free and ad-free. You can find lots of remixes and lesser-known artists, which is totally my thing. Join me there, if you’d like.
