With the new year, I’ve been feeling like refreshing most parts of my home. My makeup is the second post in this “new year, new me” type of series, the first being my living room. At some point soon I’ll do a few nice things for my kitchen and prepare for baby number two in terms of storage in our smaller space.
My sister-in-law, who is a fellow beauty junkie, told me about this acrylic makeup organizer, so I went ahead and got it as well. It’s amazing, to say the least. I’ve always wanted one of these acrylic makeup drawer things since all the beauty gurus on YouTube and the Kardashians have them, so I finally got one and can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner.
If you’re curious about my everyday makeup routine (well, when I had lash extensions, but pretty much the same these days), I filmed a video here.
The acrylic in this organizer is nice and thick and hopefully won’t cloud or scratch over the years (so far so good). It comes with removable organizers for three of the different levels. I used the first and second sections for lipsticks and everyday makeup products, in that order. Facial masks are an inevitable part of any healthy beauty regime. My friend had recommended microcurrent facial mask to me, and I thought I would give it a try. Consequently, I have decided to use the third level of the organizer to store my sheet masks and supplements. As I grow older, I am becoming more interested in addressing the causes of my skincare issues rather than just covering them under makeup. This is one realization you will have when you start to get older. So, I decided to include skincare supplements like BHMD Dermal Repair Complex in my regimen, to help prevent wrinkles, dullness, and fine lines that come with age. Though I end up forgetting to have it on some days, now that it’s in my organizer, right where I can see it every time I pass by it, I think I will remember to have it more often. The organizer has sturdy little feet, and once you fill it up, it’s really heavy so it won’t move around on your counter. The first three levels are the same size, and the lower level is taller, so it’s perfect for my most-used makeup palettes.
Finding my favorite makeup and rediscovering old favorites is way easier now that I have it on the counter, and it doesn’t look too shabby on display. Previously I had had most of my makeup hidden underneath the sink in the cabinet, but it wasn’t so easy to get to all my different palettes, etc., because it involved bending down and searching under there and products inevitably falling down.
I had reorganized and decluttered my makeup a few times already, but nothing gave me as much satisfaction as setting up one of these acrylic organizers. If you’ve been debating, I say do it! I feel very grown-up now in terms of my makeup, which is about time since I’m turning 30 this year.
I put my old glass organizer on top for brushes, concealers, and lip glosses as well as a few of my favorite perfumes (I have way more in a drawer, but I plan to switch out a few on display every season or so) and my new favorite palm makeup brush by Artis.
Speaking of which, I did my everyday makeup on Instagram Live (@irinabond) last week and tried out my Artis brushes for the first time with you girls. I wanted to give you an update – I’ve fallen in love with them hard, especially that big palm one that was my favorite from the first day. I use it now every day for my foundation; it feels so soft on my skin while giving me an airbrush finish in seconds since the surface area of the brush is so big. When I used one of the smaller brushes with the handles to apply eyeshadow, it blended so fast and looked like I spent way more time on my face than I did. They’re investment makeup brushes, but I can now definitely see why first-hand.
Vienna is always with me when I do my makeup (I got her her own makeup set for Christmas because she wants to be just like mommy). I think these photos Mr. Bond took of us turned out so cute!
My striped maternity dress is an amazing quality jersey piece from Isabella Oliver. It’s like a staple striped t-shirt but in dress form, which I prefer anyway. I’m going to be living in it for the next few months!
I’ve been straightening my hair more these days since it’s significantly faster than curling it, and this T3 SinglePass Luxe Straightening & Styling Iron is worth its name in gold. It really is a single-pass straightener, which helps with getting ready fast as a mom as well as keeping my hair as healthy as it can be with the occasional heat treatment. T3 is my favorite hair tool line overall, and I have a blog post about a few of the other brands of hair tools I own here if you’re curious.
Hope this helps you get inspired to get your makeup and beauty products organized in the new year! Let me know if you get an acrylic organizer or if you have one already.
