A few months ago I went back to work outside of the house. I’ve worked from home for the past few years, but leaving the house is a different story because of breastfeeding logistics. Both Sebastian and I still enjoy breastfeeding very much and I don’t plan to stop just yet, but now that he’s over a year old, we’ve decided to introduce the Kabrita goat milk toddler formula when I’m not home.
I’ve never been a big fan of pumping, although I do do it when I have to, so supplementing with a high-quality goat milk formula felt like the right decision for our family. Plus, I feel like at this point my milk supply is very stabilized and produces only as much as my baby needs and nothing extra, so pumping is a challenge. I pumped before my trip to Texas for a blogging conference in April, and that was hard for me while consecutively feeding my baby since I rarely pumped prior to that. I felt like I was trying to squeeze out as much milk as I could to feed my baby plus stock up for later, when my body was used to just feeding my baby the exact amount he needed.
I chose Kabrita goat milk toddler formula because it’s non-GMO, gentler on my baby’s tummy, has 22 vitamins and minerals (including folic acid, DHA, ARA, and iron), and is ideal for weaning and supplementing. I felt comfortable having my husband give him a bottle before nap time and less anxious about making sure my son had his “milk” while I was gone.
Since my trip in April when I was gone for the first time from my son and now with starting my new job, my husband has been giving Sebastian Kabrita in a bottle and it’s been working out very well for us. He only takes the bottle when I’m not around (typical). It’s actually pretty hilarious how smart babies are – he absolutely will not let me feed him from a bottle and insists on the boob because he knows it’s right there. I actually tried to feed him from the bottle for this shoot, but he wacked the bottle right out of my hand to the floor. But with my husband, he is usually cooperative. Go figure.
As soon as I come home from work, I breastfeed him. It’s literally the first thing I do when I come home every day, and boy does Sebastian let me know he wants mommy! I love it. He also has his boobie buffet throughout the night, haha. I’m starting to wonder when I’ll ever get a full night’s rest, but it’s worth it to me so I can continue breastfeeding a while longer. With Kabrita, we’ve found a balance between breastfeeding and bottle feeding.
If you’d like to try the Kabrita goat milk toddler formula for yourself, they’re offering a FREE tin and a $5 off coupon (just pay for shipping). It’s a great way to try it out and see if your child likes the sweet goat milk formula taste, plus you get $5 off your next tin.
I love that I can rely on Kabrita for when I’m not home and still feel like I’m giving my son his proper nutrition and comfort. There’s no shame in any way that you choose to feed your baby! Every family has it’s own unique dynamics. Do what’s right for yours.
