As a mom of two little ones, I feel like I’ve purchased enough shoes to know when something is going to work well for my kids and last a good amount of time, all while looking cute and being easy to put on and take off. These new Arthur Sneakers from Surprize by Stride Rite at Target truly check all the boxes for my 11-month-old son. He is on the brink of starting to walk and stands up on his own, so this pair of sneakers will come in quite handy now as he cruises along furniture and later when he starts wobbly walking. Surprize by Stride Rite starts at size 6-12 and goes up to size 12, available both in stores and online at Target.
The velcro straps on this Surprize by Stride Rite pair are absolute godsends for little kids who haven’t quite learned how to tie their own shoes yet. In fact, the only reason my 3-year-old can get her shoes on by herself is thanks to velcro. And we all know anything your toddler can do by herself like that and save her mama a minute or two is worth its weight in gold. I remember the first time I put my daughter in velcro shoes and she was able to put them on and take them off by herself felt like a major accomplishment and a big step towards independence. Well, baby steps anyway — pun intended. Now I’m all about the velcro for my son’s shoes as well.
The memory foam footbed on this Arthur pair (and throughout the Surprize by Stride Rite line) provides a cushy foundation for active little feet, while the anti-stink lining repels odor. The fit is generous, great for most medium or wide foot widths. The outsole is non-marking, the shoes are lightweight and the stitching is reinforced. The rounded toes and traction pods (those little orange circles on the bottom) reduce falls and tumbles. This is an excellent, durable pair of shoes for busy little boys! The reviews are pretty much 5-star too, so don’t just take my word for it.
The new Surprize by Stride Rite line at Target also has options for girls as well as soft-soled baby shoes for your non-walkers too! I found this particular pair in the Infant section, although they do have more selection in the regular kids shoe section, just FYI. Mamas — check them out online as well as in your local stores during your next Target run and let me know what you think.
