My birthday month is here, yay! If you’ve been following along on my social media, then you know I just turned the big 3-0. It really made me think about everything I’ve done so far these past 30 years. And without a doubt, my greatest accomplishments stood out very clearly: becoming a mom to these two kiddos. Motherhood has made me so much stronger these last few years and pushed me past limits I didn’t know I could push past. I’ve become hyper-efficient at doing even the little things in my day-to-day so I can spend more time with my babies while still trying to “have it all.” I don’t think my life has ever felt more full, even when I was taking 20+ units at UC Irvine while holding multiple leadership positions in business clubs and working Saturday and Sunday at a Ferrari dealership. This is a beautiful time in my life, and I can already foresee myself missing it in the future, so I’m trying to slow down once in a while and just live in that particular moment.
Right before my birthday this year, I accomplished kind of a big career goal of mine. Nordstrom reached out for a sponsored blog post! You know I shop there A LOT (and you ladies do too, which is equally important), so it was a no-brainer to accept, and I actually had to double check that the email was from them and addressed to me because I couldn’t believe it. 🙂 I’m sharing this tidbit, because I hope you can share in my joy and see that if you put in the hard work and stay true to yourself, one day it WILL pay off.
Today I’m sharing some of my recent Nordstrom purchases for my daughter and me that can transition from summer to fall with a simple addition of a jacket and boots or booties.
The star of my outfit is this Hinge Ruffle Shift Dress in a gorgeous allium flower print, perfect for fall with its golden colors and long sleeves yet totally wearable now. I usually don’t go for yellows, but I tried this dress on and was pleasantly surprised. I love that this dress has a button-down front, since I’m still exclusively breastfeeding my son. I tend to like drop waist styles for my hourglass shape and feel like it’s a flattering cut for my body type. My dress is a size Small, which is comparable to a women’s US size 4-6.
My Sam Edelman Studded Bow Flats are such a good mom shoe. I’ve always loved pointed-toe shoes, especially nude ones — they tend to elongate the legs, so that’s why most of my shoes these days are some shade of beige. The style name is Raisa, which is my mother-in-law’s name, so I feel a special connection with them, haha. Once in a while I’ll see a shoe or dress named Irina, and surprisingly it’s usually my style! I love the combination of sophistication and edge with the stud details in these flats. I ordered a size 9 since it’s a pointed-toe style that tapers inward at the toes, although I also wear size 8.5 in other styles.
Vienna’s showpiece is this gorgeous Truly Me Metallic Kids Bomber Jacket. It’s really well-made, and she was so excited when I first showed it to her. I didn’t notice when I first ordered that it has the beautiful multicolor metallic stripes along the collar, hem and cuffs, as you can see in our photos below. It runs small, so I sized up for her. I’m new to the Truly Me brand at Nordstrom but it’s become a fast favorite of mine for toddler girl statement pieces; I also ordered my daughter this Glitter Star Tulle Dress by them, which I’m still waiting on but I know will be a hit for the fall and winter. Gosh, I love having a little girl to play dress-up with!
My car seat is the special edition Rachel Zoe one by Maxi Cosi, and I have it attached to my Stokke Xplory stroller with adapters, which is available at Nordstrom. Having a travel system like this where I can easily put my baby into the car without waking him or otherwise disturbing him has been a lifesaver with two kids. I didn’t do this with my first baby, but now I totally understand why parents put car seats on their strollers. 🙂 Nordstrom has an awesome kids selection, and I regularly look at their new arrivals in baby gear just to know what’s cool these days (and likely because I’ve had a baby gear obsession even before having kids, ha).
