As I’m nearing the end of this pregnancy, comfort and convenience are becoming more and more invaluable. In fact, I wish I had discovered this classic black maxi dress from Mom’s the Word much earlier this year; it’s so incredibly silky soft and feels like it was cut exactly for my body. I love my skinny jeans, but nothing much beats a stretchy ruched dress that doesn’t press in too tightly anywhere and still garners compliments from strangers at 37 weeks pregnant! Best of all, I’ll be able to wear this next year in the spring and summer as well, since it should be able to accommodate a non-pregnant shape too.
I paired the long black dress with a sumptuous grey cashmere cardigan from Mom’s the Word. This gorgeous cardigan is also something I plan to wear beyond pregnancy, of course, and have been throwing on before heading out the door quite a bit recently since we finally have cooler Southern California evenings. My suede fringe backpack is by MZ Wallace, and I bet you’d never guess that it happens to be a chic diaper bag; it comes with a black removable changing pad inside and has lots of pockets and compartments to get organized. This is kind of cheesy, but it makes me feel like a “cool” mom-to-be when I wear it, since I’ve never felt like I could truly pull off a backpack look after my school age years.
For a pop of color, I added a cobalt blue infinity scarf and put on my signature red lipstick. My light grey booties are a few years old by Vince Camuto; with some slight swelling in the ankle area, booties have been a simple solution to trying to put on full-length boots these last weeks.
