Vienna and I visited Mr. Bond at work yesterday, and he was so kind as to take a few snaps of us. I’m seriously in love with that portrait of Vienna below — it’s my new screensaver. Having this blog helps make sure I have photos of her as she grows up so, so quickly.
My outfit here is incredibly comfy, from the dress to the mules, which makes it perfect for daytime hangouts, whether you’re a mom, a student, in your 20s or your 40s. It’s something I wear often, and each piece has definitely got a run for the money.
A black maxi dress is a closet staple here in Southern California, and a denim vest is a nice option to have in addition to its longer-sleeved cousin. My brown leather purse is big enough for my stuff and some of Vienna’s essentials; I got it a few years ago from the brand Oryany. My brown mules go with this everyday purse perfectly and add height while still maintaining balance with the chunky heel. My scarf is a few years old as well from Target, and I keep coming back to it season after season. To add a bit of interest to this simple dress, I like to add a long necklace such as this favorite from Kendra Scott (currently 25% off without a code); Vienna found her hands a few weeks ago and loves to play with it too.
A braided updo like this one is easy to do and packs a punch; be prepared for compliments from strangers. Just part your hair to the side, dutch braid about a 1.5-inch strand closest to the edge of your face, dutch french braid a second strand above the first, and tie both braids around a messy low bun. I use huge ballet pins that my sister introduced me to, because they’re the only ones that actually hold all my hair, and I always pull apart the braids a little to add volume.
