Since becoming a mom 2 and a half years ago, my perspective on fashion has shifted significantly. I’m all about comfort while still looking put-together. This #OOTD is just that for us moms as we transition into fall in the next month or so. I now look at clothes through the filter of “Can I mom in it?” and “Can I breastfeed in it?” This cuff-sleeve pullover sweater, these super-flattering and stretchy raw hem skinny jeans, and these nude leather mules are absolutely perfect for moms who want to look put-together yet still feel totally comfortable in 5 minutes or less. Nordstrom is my go-to for mom fashion basics, as you probably already know from the past few years on the blog. Mornings are non-stop at our house, so I have very little time to get dressed and choose to focus most of my time on the kids, like you ladies probably do too.
My ivory sweater, which also comes in a wine color, is such a great cut for hourglass shapes, in my opinion. The hem billows out a bit while the waist is a little slimmer. You’ll never see me in a truly boxy cut top or sweater because of my bigger bust, smaller waist, and bigger hips. Mr. Bond has always said I look like a Coca-Cola bottle, hehe, and my alterations guy says I have the perfect figure, lol. Both men are European. When I find a comfy bigger sweater that flatters a curvier shape, I’m all over it. If you’re not stick-skinny or don’t have that androgynous body shape that is so prominent in high fashion, it doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with trends and look good in your day-to-day. Not that those body shapes are any worse either. We’re all made beautifully, but it’s our job to figure out how to dress ourselves in the most flattering way and filter through what’s available to us as consumers.
My jeans have that raw hem that is perfectly on-trend right now. They are by AG, which is my go-to brand for stretchy designer jeans that conform to my body. They make my favorite maternity jeans as well as my favorite raw hem jean skirt right now. I literally cannot stand jeans that don’t have stretch, and these are the perfect pair of blue skinnies to update your wardrobe with for the upcoming cooler months. My photog had to get the details on them after taking these photos, so you know they look good in real life too, hehe!
These nude leather mules are what I decided to purchase in lieu of the Gucci’s that are so popular right now. I’m not always a fan of more masculine shapes and am known for my feminine fashion choices, so I decided I’d try out these budget-friendly mules (just under $110) instead of investing in a designer pair. The Gucci’s are beautiful too and come in more intricate colorways, which I’ve seen in person on a friend, so I’m not saying don’t get those if you have them on your wishlist, but this nude pair is perfect for someone like me who is just getting into mule flats. I have a few pairs of mules with heels, but flats make me a little more nervous. Although this pair comes in like 7 colors, I think the blush color is best for elongating your legs. I actually had them on my Nordstrom wishlist (that’s how I keep track of what I want/need to buy in the future) for a few weeks and saw them on a lady in my building’s elevator and ordered them that same day after seeing how good they looked on her. Plus, they match my Gucci bag that I bought myself as a push present almost perfectly, hehe. Just do yourself a favor and order a pair. You will absolutely love how easily they slip on and off as well as stay clean because of the lack of any light-colored suede material or fabric insole labels, which drives me nuts! I ordered a size 9 since it said to order the next size up on the Nordstrom website (I’m always between a US 8.5 and 9), and they fit perfectly. That’s another thing I love about the Nordstrom site — their sizing recommendations are almost always spot-on and make me feel really comfortable ordering online.
You often see me with my kids on my blog and social media since we’re always together. Vienna wasn’t in these photos because she’s in 3 days/week of summer camp right now and is about to start 2 days/week of preschool in September. This is a big deal for us as a family; I know she’s ready for more social interaction with other kids and can already see how much she grows after each day of being around her teachers and classmates. I use her days at school for work and take it pretty seriously, too. I want to post more about what it’s been like transitioning her into part-time preschool soon, since I know a lot of us had babies around the same time and are going through similar life changes.
