I’m obsessed with statement outerwear, especially capes and ponchos, but sometimes the bulkiness makes me shy away. I’ve figured out that belting a blanket cape like this in the front while leaving the back loose creates a more flattering silhouette. You don’t want to lose your shape in all the fabric, so managing all the bulk by cinching it with a belt still shows off your figure.
I just love how the fabric and print fall when belted like this.
Another way to cinch a cape or poncho would be to belt it all the way around, including the back. I feel like that would limit arm movement a bit, but it’d still be a great look.
The best part about this blanket cape/poncho is that it’s on sale for $50! The cape is a big trend this fall/winter season, so I’ve also included more gorgeous options below.
If you’re in Southern California and are thinking of going to StyleCon in Costa Mesa this Saturday, November 7th, use code IRINA to get $5 off your ticket! The code brings it down to $24, which includes a swag bag valued at over $100 and lots of booth offerings). I’ll be speaking on the beauty panel at 3pm and would love to say hello!
