Today I’m teaming up with Aussie to bring you 10 Beauty Tips for Busy Moms. Aussie is all about Aussome hair made easy. They are the go-to brand for women who want great looking hair without all of the fuss.
Once I become a mama, it got a bit harder to get my full beauty routine in; however, I’ve found some products and services that are worth the time investment and make me feel a bit closer to my old self.
Having good hair days is kind of a big deal for me. However, washing, drying, and styling my long, thick hair can take over an hour, which I rarely have time for. So I wash my hair every 4-5 days and use dry shampoo in between (I do still take showers daily but with a shower cap). I know that might sound impossible to some, but between training your hair to get used to less washing (just by not washing it as often) and the dry shampoo, my hair usually still looks decent. Of course I adore freshly washed hair, though. I’ve been using Aussie Total Miracle Collection 7N1 Shampoo and Conditioner and love how it makes my hair look smooth and feel protected from the first use. Aussie’s Total Miracle Collection 7N1 Shampoo’s moisturizing frizz control system makes hair silky smooth while strengthening it against damage.
Continuing with hair care, using Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Strong Conditioning Treatment about once a week helps protect my hair from the heat styling I do (I try to keep that to a minimum as well, but you know I love a good curl). It’s been around in drugstores since 1979! A three-minute treatment in the shower while I rinse off or maybe shave my legs is totally doable for me. I even replace my conditioner with the treatment sometimes. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Strong Conditioning Treatment lengthens the life of your locks by helping reduce damage. It makes hair 10x stronger against damage compared to a non-conditioning shampoo.
A Good Cut (& Color)
Not much else in the beauty world can make me feel as good as a fab haircut (and just this year, balayage). The few hours I put in at the hair salon pays beauty dividends for at least 6 months.
Pop of Color on the Lips
I usually keep a nude and red color in my purse at all times. It’s amazing what a simple swipe of red on the lips can do to your whole look.
Manicured hands and feet seem to be harder to come by as a mom, especially with daily household chores, but even a simple polish change can make you feel like a whole new woman. Also, if you’ve never tried gel nails, they’re the way to go in between diaper changes and dishwashing. I can go 2 weeks with no chips!
Find a good face moisturizer for day and an oil for night as well as one for the body. And an awesome lip balm and hand cream for the fall/winter especially.
Exfoliating goes hand in hand with moisturizing. Use a body scrub at least once a week as well as one for the face and one for lips. Moisturizers and makeup apply a lot smoother, and your skin has a chance to shine from within.
This is a great makeup time-saver. You can start by going to a professional and then do it yourself at home like me.
Lash Extensions or Lash Serum
I feel like dark, thick and long lashes and nicely groomed eyebrows makes me look pretty darn good, even without an ounce of makeup. I’ve done lash extensions before, and I absolutely loved them! I wrote all about my experience in this blog post, and I’m hoping to get back on my lash game now that I’m feeling better in the second trimester. If lash extensions aren’t for you, you can also try lash serums that you apply at the base of your lashes at night to make your own lashes grown longer (and maybe even thicker); they really work!
Quick Makeup Routine
This may seem daunting, especially for new moms, but showering and putting on makeup just does wonders for your morale. It’s all about finding products that apply fast and work well — true workhorses. I can do my everyday makeup in about 10 minutes. Even if I’m just doing housework and answering emails all day at home, looking put together makes me feel like a mom boss.
